Clinical Information
Biofeedback
Pelvic muscle rehabilitation (PMR) is a technique that uses EMG-biofeedback to improve pelvic floor strength by helping patients learn to control/contract the proper muscle groups through increased awareness. The application gives a visual representation of a change in a measured channel. Biofeedback can react on a pressure channel, an EMG channel or a combination of two channels.
The goal of biofeedback is to:
- Enhance pelvic muscles’ awareness
- Promote pelvic muscles’ function and coordination
- Minimize using of accessory muscles
Electrical Stimulation
Electric Muscle Stimulation (EMS) involves delivering a small electrical current to the pelvic floor muscles to:
- Produce a reflex muscle contraction
- Contract pelvic floor muscles
- Relax and inhibit pelvic floor muscles (as seen in urinary retention or pelvic pain therapy)
With Urostym, Stimulation is used as an adjunct to pelvic muscle exercises. Mixed biofeedback and stimulation protocols are highly effective to:
- Provide a passive contraction that increases awareness of pelvic floor muscle contractions in general
- Assist with identification and isolation of pelvic muscle
- Increase pelvic muscle contraction strength
- Decrease unwanted or uninhibited detrusor (bladder) muscle contraction
- Assist with normalizing pelvic muscle relaxation
PERITRON™
The Peritron™ is a hand-held clinical biofeedback perineometer used for assessing the strength of the pelvic floor muscles. The device helps teach patients how to effectively perform pelvic floor exercises (kegels). Pelvic floor contraction causes air pressure in the sensor to be transferred through the connecting tube and displayed on the readout unit.
Benifits
- Safely and accurately assess the strength of each pelvic contraction (kegel).
- Large display for easy viewing.
- Measuring pressure to 0.1cm water.

Clinical Information
According to the International Continence Society (ICS), ambulatory urodynamics (AU) is, “Any functional test of the lower urinary tract predominantly utilizing natural filling of the urinary tract and reproducing subject’s normal activity.”
ICS indications for AU:
- When Conventional Urodynamics (CU) fails to reproduce or explain detrusor instability.
- When CU may be unsuitable (children).
- Neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunctions.
- Evaluation of therapies for lower urinary tract dysfunction.
The Solar Neuro Module conducts neurophysiological assessments of pelvic floor dysfunction on the same systems used for anorectal manometry and urodynamic testing. With a set of predefined neuro-physiological tests for assessing pelvic floor disorders, the Solar Neuro Module will be familiar to those already acquainted with the state-of-the-art Solar diagnostic testing system. As a result, you can use the same patient database.
The Solar Neuro Module studies the motor innervations of the sphincters and the pelvic floor, as well as the sensory innervation of the pelvic structure. Additional measurement programs available:
- Free Run EMG
- Pudendal Nerve Stimulation
- Motor Nerve Conduction
- Sacral Reflex
Configurations:
The complete range of neuro-diagnostic solutions. Modules complementary to the Solar GI family (Solar GI, Solar GI Compact, Solar GI HRAM) and the Solar and Nexam Pro Urodynamic Systems are:
- 1 channel High speed EMG
- 2 channels High-speed EMG
- 1 channel High-speed EMG, Stimulation programs
- 2 channels High-speed EMG, Stimulation programs
Benifits
Advanced Functionality:
- Free Run EMG– recording of electrical potentials generated by depolarization of the striated muscles involved in the active continence mechanism
- Pudendal Nerve Stimulation– common and simple study that measures the latency through a direct reflex between stimulator site and recording site
- Motor Nerve Conduction– measures the nerve conduction velocity of the dorsal nerve of the penis
- Sacral Reflex- offers stimulation of the dorsal nerve of the penis or clitoris and records reflexes via the brain taken from pelvic floor muscle structures.

Clinical Information
Pudendal Nerve Stimulation
In the diagnosis of micturition and pelvic floor disorders, common anorectal, pelvic floor and urodynamic investigations are combined with studies to investigate neurological abnormalities. Neurological studies can greatly improve the quality of the diagnosis.
Pudendal Nerve Stimulation (PNS) or Pudendal Nerve Terminal Motor Latency (PNTML) has diagnostic and prognostic value in the care of patients suffering from fecal incontinence or pelvic floor dysfunction, especially when it is important to identify and quantify the nature of the neuromuscular injury.
PNS is a common and simple study that measures the latency through a direct reflex between stimulator site and recording site. The St. Marks probe is used for latency measurement between stimulator site and recording site (anal sphincter). Pudendal nerve conduction measures the reflex via the brain. PNS can also be used for urinary incontinence studies when the sphincter is stretched after childbirth.
OVERVIEW
The compact and easily transportable Compact Delta II is effective and easy to use. Avoiding the risk of misalignment is realized with the fully integrated shock source and C-arm making set-up fast and reliable. This design, along with the isocentric movements of the therapy head and imaging system, ensure precise stone localization. The Compact Delta II utilizes proven Dornier Electromagnetic Shock wave Emitter (EMSE) technology to deliver consistent, reliable energy. Imaging flexibility is obtained through X-ray or optional isocentric ultrasound. The C-arm rotates +/- 30 degrees allowing visualization of stones from various positions and offers two modes of X-ray: standard fluoroscopy, and boost fluoroscopy. The optional isocentric ultrasound uses a patented localization arm making ultrasound targeting quick and easy.
